SYRACUSE — It was a perfect day with sunny skies and temperatures in the high 80s for the third annual car show organized by Oakwood Resort and the Syracuse-Wawasee Park Foundation.

Registration for the car show opened at 9:30 a.m. with 19 vehicles participating this year.

The public began their walk to see the classic cars at 11 a.m. The entertainment for the event, the Olson Twins starring Dan Lopez and Clint Olson, also took the stage at 11 a.m.to sing as visitors perused the vintage automobiles.

Roll-N Smoke BBQ was available with a wide variety of options for the hungry visitor including ribs, pulled pork, brats and hot dogs.

Judging for the car show began at 2 p.m. Car enthusiasts Jim Wilcox and Pete Keelan from Fort Wayne were given the difficult job of choosing the winners. There were three categories this year: current classic, future classic and people’s choice.

Wade Smith won in the current classic category with his 1966 Mustang.

The award for future classic went to Rex Parent with his 2015 ZR1 Corvette.

The 1969 Yenko Camaro owned by Mark Hollar won the people’s choice category. In the past three years, this is Hollar’s second time winning at the Oakwood Resort car show.

All proceeds from this event are once again going to the Syracuse-Wawasee Park Foundation to assist with the cost of continuing the trails around Lake Wawasee. Tamra Henry, Oakwood Resort general manager, states, “More than anything, it’s for the fun.”
